Abstract: The article discusses significant changes in poetry history since the 20th century, particularly in the role of translators, as a prologue to the 58th Istituto Culturale Mitteleuropeo conference.
It highlights, through an etymological analysis and a selection of literary-historical criticism, how the rupture of the canon was often imposed by external elements, such as war. Today, these elements of rupture include artificial poetry, a contemporary product of generative artificial intelligence (GAI). In a diachronic variability, some elements underline the timeless and absolute value of poetry and its translation.
