Tommaso per l’Europa: una nota teologico-politica

Abstract: This short paper discusses St. Thomas Aquinas’ position on “law,” considering four aspects: anthropological, theological, political and eschatological. The existence of two planes is examined: supernatural and natural. Among these two planes, a common aspect emerges in reference to law: “reason,” since law as such concerns reason. The latter is found in eternal law, natural law, and human law. This perspective, historically rooted in the European political tradition, should also inspire in a dialectical key the modern legislation of national and EU institutions.
