Abstract: Significant events occurred in 1944 are observed from the hermeneutic perspective of synchronicity, a concept introduced by Carl Gustav Jung and reproposed in Italy by the political scientist Giorgio Galli. This perspective helps to read complex events of the recent past from a holistic perspective, not excluding hypothetical developments. A key event in the history of Italy is, for example, the Ardeatine Massacre through the interweaving of the individual stories of its protagonists: victims and executioners, such as Erich Priebke, at the center of a recent book.
